There are lots of ways of dealing with negative vibes; including mediation, crystal grinding, a long hot bath (& the list goes on!) but we love Palo Santo because it’s one of the simplest & most versatile remedies. Burning can be done in conjunction with meditation, as part of a smudging ritual or throughout the day using an incense burner.

Spanish for “holy wood”, Palo Santo is a sacred tree which grows in select parts of South America. We only source our Palo Santo ethically & responsibly, from naturally fallen trees. It has been used for centuries by shamans in ritual prayer, ceremonies & healing. Tracing back to the Incan Empire, it had a prevalent place in native ritualistic medicine, preferred by shamans & healers for it’s metaphysical properties of purification & clearing negative energies.

Rich in brain-oxygenating terpenes such as limonene & a-terpineol, Palo Santo has an uplifting & positive effect. It's believed to cleanse to a person’s energy field, thereby enhancing their ability to deflect & repel negative energies as well as raising your positive vibrations in preparation for meditation. It's also been known for it’s grounding & focusing effect which can enhance creativity, productivity & increase good fortune.

Going away from the energy side of things, Palo Santo's also proven to be an effective natural alternative to insect repellant. Additionally it smells incredible, & can be used instead of scented candles or essential oils.

So whatever your belief, Palo Santo definitely helps to create a positive soothing atmosphere.

To use your Palo Santo stock, light the end & allow the flame to spread across the top of the stick for approximately 20 seconds (see pics), then gently blow out the flame, the Palo Santo will begin to smoke. You can now start cleansing your crystals & home with the smoke. Your Palo Santo will eventually self extinguish; you can relight it, or place it on a heat proof surface (Abalone shells are ideal) whilst it cools. You can use your Palo Santo stick many, many, many times ☺️

It's beneficial to 'cleanse' your crystal when you receive it/them. You can do this in a variety of ways; using sage, palo santo, running water (preferably spring water), moonlight or sunlight, just be sure to check your crystals are suitable in water & sunlight, as some are not. I recommend cleansing your crystals at least once a month. If your crystal has been 'active' a lot, or appears hot, cleanse more regularly. Over time, you will just know! You build a little relationship with your crystals, they are like little friends!

Crystals contain energy & natural vibrations, dependent on when, where & how they were made in the world. You don’t technically have to do anything to benefit from crystals. It is beneficial if you love them & care for them, this is pretty simple though 😊 you can start by cleansing them with sage every week to release any toxic or negative energies, or you can simply get them out on a full moon & cleanse & charge them in the moonlight 🌙
